Well, its been sometime between sets… Sorry about that!  But we now have a fresh hour of listening pleasure.

Recorded live this week but yours truly..  It features a bunch of new tunes and a few oldies for good measure.

Hope its as much fun to listen to as it was to make.

P.S.. We also have a Pulse Radio channel where you can stream all new mixes from. Just another option for people who would rather not download the mix to their hard drive

Download the mix from the DJ SETS PAGE

Or

Stream the mix from PULSE RADIO

FRIVOLOUS PLAYS LIVE AT CUCKOO ON THE 26TH OF NOVEMBER

GET TICKETS EARLY AND SAVE $$$

http://www.moshtix.com.au/event.aspx?id=51733

If you want to understand Frivolous – aka Daniel Gardner – imagine if Bob Dylan went really electric
and started making four-four beats, or if Tom Waits met and caught sparks off the techno futurism
of Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Imagine, if you can, a fusion of punk, rave, jazz, minimal, Eastern
European folk music, classic house and swinging 60s soundtracks fueled by the a passionate love for
found sounds and eccentric experimentation. If you can imagine that, you’re getting close.

Here it is, the final set of the night from our  birthday shindig. It’s a real goodun too!! Listen to it on some nice speakers, and turn it up loud!

Thanks everyone who came out and made the night so special, and to everyone for your support over our first three years of business. May there be many more

:-)  xx

The latest CKM Ep is dropping next week (23-6-11)!

Super excited to finally have this out for the peoples ears, and hope everyone enjoys listening.

This EP includes two fresh original tracks by 12″ Phildo, and a DOPE remix by Andras Fox. Its a blend of house music styles, driven by cosmic synths and stripped back drum patterns. Some what experimental, sometimes functional, but always interesting.

As with the previous releases, this will be available exclusively from Juno Download as of Thursday next week.

Our lads have made some waves in the past few years, but this one takes the cake!  :-DD

This soon to be released 12″ is a classic Carter Bros work out. Smoking hot riffs and thumping kicks. You know its going to work on the floor when these two have anything to do with it..

It comes complete with a remix by Nebraska, who hails from the UK. I first discovered Nebraska with his album “Mixed up music for mixed up people”, and fell in love!  His remix is gold, and gives a great twist on the CB’s original.

I’ll post something when this hits the shelves. Make sure you support and buy the vinyl!!

Stay tuned for more ;-)

Whilst clicking my way round late this evening, I stumbled across this tune that Frank Booker has put up for free on his Soundcloud.

Its a chugging slo-mo edit, latin’ish groove with some disco guitar vibes and great all in vocals.

A generous gift from our Kiwi friend! Check it! :-)

Fresh recordings from our first of many live only nights at Cuckoo. Sine Wave Concept brings together electronic producers who have a talent for recreating their music off the cuff and in the club!

Our first attempt of this night was a great success. With live sets from Flowerpot, M-Thirteen and Rob-Soft, there was a great variety of Techno music. Looking forward to hearing what’s coming for the next one!

So here we have M-Thirteen’s set from the night. It’s a beauty, lush synths, gritty drums, strange vocals… A great listen! Click the pic below to get to the sets page.

M-Thirteen Live @ Sine Wave Concept

Just in time for Sine Wave Concept on March 2, We have a clip of Rob-Softly Live including the Audio & Visuals.

Have a peek before checking him out in the flesh next Wednesday!

Don’t forget its an early start! Doors open at 7pm with Pizza’s being served fresh with icy cold longnecks!

Untitled from Rob-Soft on Vimeo.

A showcase of live electronic music. :-)

We’ve had to call ETSA to get more power routed into the club just to run all the hardware.

Rob-softly has been working on this Audio + Visuals set for sometime now and we’re all amped to see what he has in store. From hearing Robs various musical projects over the last few years i can imagine a wealth of organic sounds and textures in his set. More info to come on the visuals, maybe even a little clip to get the senses going.

M-Thirteen is the new project from one part of Presslounge. His first offering was to the hoards of cheerleaders and banner boys at the Fringe Spin Comp, where he narrowly lost to some inferior digital jukeboxes. His set is made with some help  from some lovely vintage toys including a hot Red SH-101! Keen to hear what he has to offer!

Lastly we have a fruity offering from Duo FlowerPot. This is to be their 4th live set at cuckoo, each being more twisted than the last. They have decided this time to take a more scape, ambient / downtempo angle for the Wednesday night affair. Very much a jam, with not much in the pipeline in terms of pre-planning, this could go anywhere…

Being a weekday night we are going to open to doors from 7pm and offer a Pizza + CoopersPale Longneck for $17!! So get in early and settle in for a sonic experience like no other.
