Sidewalk & Cuckoo Music are very proud to bring you the first Eglo artist to tour our great land!!

This West London born and raised producer, Stevie J aka Funkineven is no stranger to night life and sound system culture. From his Grenadian roots, through to the surroundings of Nottinghill Hill carnival and his families own parties, the speaker stacks and record crates were never too far away… and they haven’t left his sights.

Influenced by the music of Prince, Leaders Of The New School, The Neptunes, Larry Heard, Kraftwerk, George Clinton and Masters At Work to name but a few, it’s clear to see why Funkineven’s music displays such a colourful and diverse palette of sounds, styles and tempo. Electronically fusing House, Boogie, Soul, Hip Hop and Techno, Stevie made his debut as the third artist to be released on Eglo records.

Check out this dope Dj set he put together as promo for his Australian tour!

Releasing his first record at the tender age of 19 with UK label Kinnego caught Jack Hamill (Space Dimension Controller) a lot of attention. His fresh take on house music was a welcome breath of fresh air, and his first release was followed up with a E.P for dutch imprint Clone and two releases (including a full length album) for R&S.

The hype behind SDC has been massive, playing live and Djing all across the globe and recording mixes for FACT and Resident Advisor. His sound blends the best of House/Disco/Electro/Funk and has a classy vintage aura. Of course, there is a real spacey / galactic vibe behind everything he produces, and you’ll find that he really keeps this persona going even in online interviews….Example A.

“”"Dazed Digital: Your tracks and alias are obviously pretty cosmic and spacey, how did you become influenced by these themes?

Space Dimension Controller: Firstly, there is no alias. I am Mr. 8040 and I am a Space Dimension Controller, so that’s why I release my music under that name. I’m influenced by space because it is where I was born and where I live. I spent most of my life aboard the escape vessel my family used to escape when Planet Earth was invaded by Pulsovians in 2257. Now I live on Mikrosector-50, Mankind’s new home “”"

We’re extremely excited to have him in Australia and especially Cuckoo for the first time!

Tickets will be on the door only ($20)

SDC Live @ Robert Johnson 12/02/2011 by spacedimensioncontroller

In the year 2257, Planet Earth was invaded by an energy seeking race of aliens known as the Pulsovians, sparking a galactic war that lasted over two years. Sadly, the Pulsovian technology was much more advanced than that of the humans and Earth was lost. The Pulsovians drained the energy from the sun, turning it into a Pulsar. Earth died soon after, leaving the humans no choice but to flee into outer space to find a new home.

For over 75 years the last remnants of mankind lived aboard their escape vessels. It wasn’t until the year 2334 that a man named Max Tiraquon discovered a distant planet in Mikrosector-50 of the deep space grid that was suitable for human habitation.
Shortly after the discovery of Mikrosector-50, Max Tiraquon founded the Tiraquon Security Council as the first government of mankind’s new home. A man known as Mr. 8040 was made the Deputy Space Dimension Controller of the council.

By day, Mr. 8040 and Max Tiraquon defend the boundaries of the security barrier from astro bandits and rebels who seek to destroy the barrier and free the citizens of Mikrosector-50.
By night, Mr. 8040 lives a secret life… Travelling outside the barrier into deep space where no radar can detect him, Mr. 8040 creates music using ancient earth technologies alone in his Electropod.

When ready he ventures deeper into space to uncharted colonies where music is accepted. He plays in illegal night clubs on distant moons and alien proto-spheres. When asked to describe his music, Mr. 8040 doesn’t really have much to say. The only way to describe it is…
GALACTIC FUNK.

If you want to understand Frivolous – aka Daniel Gardner – imagine if Bob Dylan went really electric
and started making four-four beats, or if Tom Waits met and caught sparks off the techno futurism
of Juan Atkins and Derrick May. Imagine, if you can, a fusion of punk, rave, jazz, minimal, Eastern
European folk music, classic house and swinging 60s soundtracks fueled by the a passionate love for
found sounds and eccentric experimentation. If you can imagine that, you’re getting close.
