It has been a long time since we’ve heard anything from the infamous Art Smock.. I managed to get a cheeky hour long recording on Saturday night so people would believe he is still out there… Fresh back from Jamaica i hear… But who knows really….

The crew that bought us Robert Hood, Jay Shepheard and Tornado Wallace, teams up with Discovery Records to bring Lucy to our city for the very first time.

Lucy’s label Stroboscopic Artefacts launched in 2009 with his EP ‘Why Dont You Change’, this set the tone for where the label was headed… Deep into dub-land…

Having a background in experimental sound design, his music toys with the listeners head, pulsating techno rhythms and cavernous ambiance couldn’t possibly be safe for ones brain. On the dancefloor be very aware of an incurring aneurysm. The SSA sound is intelligent, nasty and elegant all at the same time.

Lucy having now released with Luke Slater’s Mote Evolver, Chris Liebing’s CLR, Meerestief Records, Perspectiv and Time Is Now, all whilst holding down regular club nights the worlds best techno venues gives him all the know-how and skills that only experience can give.

Supported by the one and only HMC, Discovery records Nenad, TEA’s James Manning and Electronic Soul’s Trebek.

Don’t Sleep on this one!

Here it is, the final set of the night from our  birthday shindig. It’s a real goodun too!! Listen to it on some nice speakers, and turn it up loud!

Thanks everyone who came out and made the night so special, and to everyone for your support over our first three years of business. May there be many more

:-)  xx

Recloose and Frank Booker have been teaming up for years running the now infamous Hit It And Quit It radio show. Broadcasting live every week from Auckland, they have made their name playing the freshest underground tunes from all around the world. HIQI has even been headhunted to be Simulcast on legendary Japanese Radio station Shibuya FM.

These guys are sure to turn it on. Recloose has become somewhat of distant resident at Cuckoo, playing in our first months of opening and then again in ’09. His sets are eclectic and have zero boundaries, pulling out everything from Rare Disco jams, through Boogie and House, Techno but always manages to keep his Detroit soul intact.

Frank Booker has had some real successes with his productions. Releasing two Ep’s for Untracked in 2009, gained him world wide attention, and when you get Gillies Peterson on board you know your in for a ride. In 2010 Frank pumped out a Mix CD on Wonderful Noise, followed by two Ep’s with remixes by Mark E, Kez YM and Cosmic Boogie.

As a duo they have become well renowned for their abilities in turning a party on its head. Playing shows at some of Australia’s premier parties including the Sydney Festival and of course Mad Racket, not only that but all around the world..

Entry is a measly $10 on the door, so do yourself a favor and don’t miss this one!

Check out the mix below, featuring Recloose tearing it up for the 10′s of thousands of Resident Advisor fans. Its a mad blend of house, pushing the boundaries as always.
