Pepe-review

2010 sounds so futuristic..

Here we are at the 11th of Jan and we’ve already heard some great music, NYE was semi future-ish with a crazy little 909/303 experiment once again from the Carter boys, always a treat, and then a slightly more fruity or floral live set from Flowerpot. It’s always good to have some live performance on NYE, the idea that no one really knows what might happen next can create a vibe that you just can’t get any other way.

On the second we had Nick Harding back once again for a marathon jam. I think it ended up being about 5 or 6 hours of Nick, Sanji, Phil, 1 for 1. Always heaps of fun having a jam with nick & Sanji, i have a few excerpts from the night that i’ll upload this week.

And of course, last friday the 8th we had the infamous Pepe Bradock visit our quiet town. I made the mistake of wearing new shoes that night and came home with blisters all over my feet! it was just to hard to stop dancing. Pepe jumped on the decks at about 1am and played right through until the lights were turned on at 5am. It was an amazing set! It’s clear that he is one of the great French Producer/Dj’s of all time. Look forward to hearing his new full length album out sometime in the next few months! Here few pic’s from NYE and Pepe…

Just want to wish everyone all the best for the new year. Hope to see everyone at Cuckoo tonight for some drinks and a boogy.
Can’t wait! Flowerpower :-)

A place to compile the newest House, Techno, Experimental electronic music of Adelaide and give people a taste of new music from around the world through weekly Dj sets.

Ha! Sorry that totally sounds like a mission statement

But really, there is too much quality electronic music being made in Adelaide, and most of it spends it’s life on a CD or hard drive and is never heard outside of the studio of the person that made it.

The first Release’s that we feel the world needs to hear is the latest work by The Carter Bros, these guys are definitely guilty of having a few hard drives worth of tracks. Their latest work (Metropolitan) is a full length album that works seamlessly from start to finish, starting you off down-tempo and slowly progressing through disco, house and eventually taking you to the middle of a dance floor in a packed night club at the moment that everyone has their hands in the air.  Its a trip. We plan to have it available for download in the next two weeks so stay tuned.

Something that has made me smile every time i think back to it. Some friends along with myself went to India for a what seemed like the wedding to end all weddings. A crazy 5 days of ceremonies and celebrations, everyday a different song would be played at full tilt for the massive congregation to dance to. On the final day all came together with a group of drummers and a few kilometers of busy Mumbai road, i guess 100 odd people all kitted out in bright reds and yellows, dancing together to incredibly loud live drumming. It didn’t matter that there was a bank-up of cars a couple of hundred meters long, or that every person on the sidewalk stopped in their tracks and stared us down, everyone danced on… From the youngest kid to the oldest grandma, no one was left out, you either waved your arms and moved your legs or they would be moved for you.

Don’t try and fight it.

Leave your inhibitions at home

Have a dance  ;-)
